There was a book launching earlier this afternoon. It was a small event wherein we got to see this Belgian guy who compiled oral traditions of an ethnic group. It was an interesting book, which he had worked on for a long time (due to the violent occurrences around the place, his research got delayed several times). Anyway, it's quite hard to compile these oral traditions - the songs, myths, legends and such, especially since only the elders usually are the ones who know these things.
Of course, I bought the book! Yay! More for my (almost) library!
We also got to see spearheads and century-old spears (and other weapons like a suspicious trident-look-alike - it had four points)! It was fascinating! Yay for research!
Sadly, I'm not a metallurgist. I would have love to expand the weapons study more. One colleague is already writing a book regarding these old old weapons and his focus is its cultural significance and heritage and connections with other cultures outside the country. :)
