Oh, goodness. I watched the new Highlander movie (Highlander: The Source) with friends tonight, and that is the way to go if you're going to watch this movie. Because, dear lord, it was bad. And I know Highlander's never quite been down with the idea of "continuity," but this didn't even make sense in the context of the movie. I admit that I dozed a bit towards the end, but I hadn't understood anything before that so I doubt missing ten minutes made much of a difference. Just about every scene was weirdly shot, which means the fights were bizarre, confusing, and fake looking. There was another scene in an abandoned house where two of the camera angles had a soft-focus glow (The priest and Anna got to be glowy.) but all the others were normal.
I will say that the non-sensical montage (No, really. Completely non-sensical. We all wondered how the images on the screen were supposed to fit.) set to "Princes of the Universe" had me laughing so hard I hurt myself. The "science" explained at the very beginning is hilarious as well, but it's sadly not set to a Queen cover. I am curious as to why, if they knew the movie was going to be premiered on the SciFi Channel, they didn't redub the swearing so that they didn't have to bleep the movie? And why do I need a flashback to something that happened twenty minutes ago?
