Thought some non-Tumblr or Tumblr-lite people might find this interesting:
A Tumblr user, bisexualamy, explains how they are making an invite only community. Though being Tumblr, other users will be able to read, like and reblog. This structure is fascinating because Tumblr doesn't have communities like LJ and DW has or like mailing lists were. The rest of this post is text I originally posted on Tumblr.
So, 1. totally support conversations about River, Amy, Molly, Clara, Jane, Susan and the greatest Moffat-written woman of all, Lynda*, but 2. Wow. Is this how tumblr fandom organises itself? Tumblr really forces the structure, baring the fragility of our connection to each other. You can't make a 'community' journal, as you would on DW/LJ, you have to find the people and connect them to each other one to one, a cat's cradle of communication.
*For a hysterical old misogynist he's responsible for giving some great actresses a starting point for many very much loved by me characters.
