Alright, I give up.
Nine months ago I posted about transferring all the bonus features from different sources onto DVD format, and how I'd planned to re-edit them into a slick package that could be distributed through this fan community for cost of supplies.
The two biggest things that stalled me from editing are: 1) a heavy shooting/editing schedule for jobs I was contracted to do (and continue to work on), and 2) loss of my old trusty .mpg editing software I used to use (which would be essential to this type of project).
For the past three seasons I've had the pile of 9 DVD's sitting there next to my computer, gathering dust. Realizing that I'm not likely to have the time and resources any time soon to finish that project further than the dozen or so hours I spent on transfer time, I realized that there's probably someone on this community that does have the time and/or quick .mpg cutting ability who might want to help.
Here's what I have to make available, but until it's all edited down to a set of three DVD's I can't see it being worthwhile to replicate for distribution:
1. The extras from the Criterion Deluxe Laserdisc (retailed for $150 new, and the same price as a used copy for years afterwards on the secondary market):
a. short doc on the costuming
b. Cinefex article on the effects
c. short doc on the visual inspirations
d. short doc on Dracula films
e. the half-hour Making-of special
f. the full commentary by Francis and Roman Coppola
g. the teaser trailer
h. an editing workshop with some alternate footage of Johnathon/Mina
i. the music and effects track
j. A review by a film scholar
2. The extras from the Sony laserdisc release:
a. the theatrical trailer (different from the teaser)
b. the 15 min. edited version of the Making-of special
3. Very rare in-store promotional VHS:
a. the half-hour Making-of special
b. The Love Song For a Vampire music video
4. The cheesy 1993 Bram Stoker's Dracula video games commercial
5. The 2 hr. 10 min. workprint of the film - features alternate/extended scenes/dialogue, temp music tracks, and different pacing that allows for more fidelity to the original novel. But it has VERY horrendous visual clarity (see the link that
lis77 posted earlier today). It was her post which reminded me I need to get this stuff out there.
If you want to help with this project, shoot me a reply and we'll work out the details!
