arrive.

I got up at 530 am this morning to meet my mom at the airport. I am not a morning person.

I sat there blinking away my light and dying to go back to sleep. Slowly and begrudgingly, I moved my body and pulled on layers. Hoodie, sweatpants, waterproof jacket, moccasins. Comfort. Go.

I headed to the bus stop, as it was dark and started raining. Great. I pulled on my hood, which covers my eyes, but couldn't be bothered to adjust it so I could see better and got to the bus stop. Another 10 minutes wait. Ughhh. I watched drunk people stumble by me. WHY would you do that to yourself, I thought, at 6 am. I like being home by 3. :P

As I stood in the cold, and rain, it started sleeting.
Oh yeaaaa. Ice ice, baby.
The bus came 2 minutes early and I closed my eyes once I sat down. We got to the airport in record time, as no one takes the bus at that godforsaken time. I trundled in and went to get tea. Yes, tea. Such a UK way of life. Something WARM. Alas, the woman was too slow, and I spotted my mother looking about confused and surprised her with a hug.

It was like I had just seen her a week ago. We sat down and had some actual tea, and scones. It was great.
And then, just as expected, she said, "You're not very talkative."
No, mom, it's 645am. But it was still funny that it was so predictable.
She asked me about everyone back home and I ran through them all, even people I haven't talked to. How are they? Good. I don't know, I presume, I'd rather not say something because once I say something, it sticks on them, forever.
Finally back.
We both knocked out, me on my couch, cramped and her in my bed before I headed off to class and the day began.
