My resolutions for this year were to keep in better touch than I have been. This included sending birthday cards (which has been successful so far (since Feb), except one has gotten lost in the mail it seems! :() and writing when people asked.

One of these people that asked me to write to them was my line sister, Kelly.

You see, Kelly has always been crazy, since we first met back in Spring 08. She's my line sister, so naturally, I agreed. Write to what? might you ask. Well, Kelly, after doing Semester at Sea, decided she loved the ocean and traveling so much, that she wanted to join the Navy.

She graduated with her Bachelor's in Applied Math and Statistics. The thing with the Navy, and probably any armed forces is that if you enter with a degree, you can be an officer, and have some sort of preference.

She decided this back in the spring when we graduated, but her class was deferred until this spring. Long, right?! Anyhow, after a year in between of full time jobs, and getting engaged to her Marine boyfriend of 6 or so years, and moving to San Diego with him, she was finally called.

We had been emailing some and in one she said to me, "You're good with the pen pal writing thing, so I fully expect snail mail from you while I'm in Newport!" Shit, I thought to myself, I haven't been as great as she thinks. I'm TRYING though. So, since she's entered, I've tried writing a letter to her a week, which, is hard!

Letter writing is hard. On top of realizing how much I did during the week, I realize how much is kind of irrelevant. Oh, I made this new dinner today? Did you now? No one cares, Elisabetta. :D
So far, I've gotten a bit better, and missed writing and will try and keep it up. She has many people supporting her, and I think a few writing, including me. Very lucky. I mean we've been through the whole process, but this is a WHOLE other process and way harder, so I try and keep her entertained.

My favorite memory with her was driving her and drunk Krista home, on top of the night with Krista where Glenn picked us up and for some reason we decided the lyric to "replay" was "Shawty's like a melody in my head that I can't keep rogue!" Yea, don't ask.

Nonetheless, I'm very proud of her and so glad to know her. Four years, Alpha Gamma strong. :)
