This is, after all, a journal, and journals are designed to detail a series of events.
The last 24 hours have just been a very different change for me. Being in my new house, without roommates to worry about or be concerned about, I'm finding myself with whole loads of things to do, even if they're just little things, to make sure everything stays the way it's been decided it should be. However, I have the freedom to do them all without worrying about bothering anyone, so they're actually getting done.
It also means I can start indulging in hobbies that were at one point shelved for the sake of space, irritation to others, or both. This will eventually include bicycling and/or running. It'll give me and my fox something to do together, which will be a very good thing in itself.
That is, once he recovers a bit more. Some dear sweet opinionated boys in a pickup truck decided that while he was out on his bike last night, he was not allowed to be on their road. To indicate this, they first egged him (that's "threw eggs at him", not "tried to incite him to violent action") on his bike, then ran him off the road. His knee's a bit busted and his rib is bruised pretty badly from where he was sent over the handlebars (and on a recumbent like the one he uses, that's a pretty hard jolt) by the crash off the road. He just wishes he got the license plate number off the truck, but unfortunately he didn't, so it's just another random road violence incident. *sigh*
Today, we got his bike repaired. The bike shop didn't charge much, so we were relieved about that. I got some pants for myself while we were there as well. I'd never bought bike pants before this that had the seat area padded. A padded seat area feels just plain weird. It's like what I would imagine stuffing your pants, but badly, would feel like. Once you're on the bike, though, it all just works, so I'll like with the oddity when I'm off the bike.
And now, for one of my other hobbies--baking. Mmm... sweet cherry bread baking in the oven. Cherries are a pain in the patoot to prepare for baking, however. Stemming, pitting, and slicing takes a long time, compared to peaches or apples. Soon enough, I'll try some peach bread, and leave the cherries for snacking.
Better check on the bread.
