What I'm Writing: 10/14 & Some Stuff I Recommend.

Oct 14, 2009 10:22

Ugh. I am so far behind in my Mustang Daily work. I only have 2 articles in for my grade and I need 20 by the end of the quarter + 5 blogs. Tamar has created a little incentive for now, but I still need 3 more articles in order to catch up to this fourth week of class.

Anyways. The Manga Cliche Review is on hiatus while I try to catch up with myself. I might bang out an entry sometime in the next few days because I have all of Thursday and Friday off. In the meantime, there is an apology post up to explain things. I pretty much just need a little more free time in order to do some blog-related reading, but I might re-structure how I write the blog.

All About Comics is still going strong for the obvious reason of OMG I GET GRADED FOR THIS THING. My latest posts have been about Viz accepting original content submissions/Monster's debut on SyFy and the upcoming release of Astro Boy. There is also a new banner up which features most of the manga and comic books I allowed myself to take up to SLO for my last quarter. Unfortunately, I have let that little collection grow considerably already. XD I also feel bad that almost all of them are Viz titles since I was working for Tokyopop and I want to work for Tokyopop in the future.

UM SUPPORT TOKYOPOP GUYS! No really, you support them more often, I have better chances of getting that job. I can personally recommend some titles for you. You will enjoy them, I promise. They've got some good stuff coming out.

Here's some suggestions right now, in fact:
Mad Love Chase- At first you think OMG YAOI, but it's not a boys' love title since it's not being released under BLU. It's got a HILARIOUS premise- basically, a demon prince runs off to the human world to avoid an arranged marriage and find true love, but almost ALL of the demon world follows after him. Including his fiance. Whom I love and is amazingly funny. It's very funny overall.

Zone-00- This title got a lot of flack from the office because it's a hard read at first, but if you stick with it the story becomes clearer and clearer. If you like the artist of Trinity Blood, it's the same one. It's one of those manga where you can see the mangaka growing in ways. But also it has REVOLUTIONARY BOOBIES. I am not kidding. There is actually a panel where one of the characters says that. It might be in the second volume, which I have read because I was working for Tokyopop. REVOLUTIONARY BOOBIES, GUYS. PICK 'EM UP AND SQUEEZE 'EM. Also there are twin motorcycle-people who want you to ride them. Need I say more?

Karakuri Odette- This series has been getting a lot of positive reviews from critics because it DESERVES it. Karakuri Odette's about a girl-robot who forces her professor into letting her go to school to learn what being human is about. It is SHOJO, but is not going to be the cheesy cliche-fest type shojo SO GET YOUR ASS OUT THERE AND BUY IT SO TOKYOPOP CAN LICENSE OTHER GOOD SHIT BY JULIETTA SUZUKI, BITCHES.  (AKUMA TO DULCE, I WANT YOU PUBLISHED IN ENGLISH, DAMMIT!) I haven't seen it in SLO bookstores so I am hoping that it sold out really really really fast. >:D

That's all.
