A police officer's primary objectives, if you boil it down, is the protection of life, and to save property. I think it is safe to say that on a daily basis, when I am out driving around at work, the primary objectives don't cross my mind a whole lot.
Sure I am out there stopping people on foot (prostitutes, dope sellers, drug abusers, drunks). I make a lot of traffic stops. I check things out when it doesn't look right. I am a very busy, proactive cop. But is that primary goal ingrained in the mind? Nope.
