In the tradition of old-school, B-rated films

Mammoth
Originally uploaded by CopieGirl. In true SciFi Channel fashion, the made-for-tv creature feature Mammoth was a masterpiece of pure, unadulterated suckage. I mean, the CGI mammoth was horrific, poorly animated at best, and the premise that a soul-sucking alien had possessed the remains of dead mammoth and was terrorizing a small Louisiana town was ridiculous. However, as my taste in film - and pretty much anything - is terrible, I really enjoyed this piece of shit. Why, you ask, would I subject myself to two hours of such crap? Let me explain:
  • Vincent Ventresca (Invisible Man), Summer Glau (Firefly), and Tom Skerritt (Picket Fences). ('Nuff said.)
  • The dialogue and the situation comedy was hysterical. I do believe they knew the movie was a piece of shit, so they made it funny to compensate. (I love a movie that can make fun of iteslf.)
  • Squeaky toy. (Watch the movie and figure it out.)
  • Hot, teenage love interest of Summer Glau named Squirrel that's alway hurting himself. (2 points for consistency.)
  • Hick cops and a mortician with an alien-possessed, severed hand. (That's a gut buster!)
  • Vincent Ventresca with his shirt off. (Again, 'nuff said.)

And there you have it. Okay, my little listy-list probably hasn't convinced you of Mammoth's quality, nor has it compelled you to watch it. Most likely, you think I'm in need of a straight jacket. But take me on my word, if you're channel surfing and happen to come across this gem, do stop and take the time to enjoy. After all, everyone needs a good laugh.

sci fi, mammoth
