Home Again

Finally back home. I've been back twice since Katrina hit. Driving home was somewhat depressing as things still seem like a major war zone/disaster area around here. My once quiet little bum-fuck town is now a busy, rush-hour, bustling center of New Orleans' resurrection.

People say New Orleans will never be the same. Perhaps not the exact same. But the spirit of New Orleans has never died, nor will it. New Orleans will be better than before and I look forward to being there when it happens.

I'm finally away from LaTech and the Bible Belt. Any more and I would have found some of those antiquated wooden pencils that the proletarians in Former Soviet States still use... sharpen them to a finely tipped point... and gouge my eardrums, eyes, and navel out in a most excruciating manner. Really, it's that bad there.

On the whole though, Louisiana Tech as a school wasn't bad at all, even if it was filled with animals that should never have gone to college, moronic greek organizations, and zealots. The engineering school there was pretty impressive in my opinion, and the professors were outstanding.

Thursday was the induction of Emmet O'Donnel Squadron's newest Arnold Air Society members, one of whom most readers likely know. C/4C John Noehl or the new AAS C/2Lt. John Noehl. They went through hell on their induction night and two of them didn't get to participate in the induction, but they persevered and are now active members in a great organization in AFROTC.

I think I'm done blathering for now. Throat is sore, and I will hopefully be getting a tonsillectomy very soon.
