I'd love to say that we won the Cup again... but we didn't. Lee High did. While I really want to be a spoilsport about it and cry and whine and say we deserved the trophy, I won't. We did the best show we could and it was fantastic... we got straight 1's and Best in Class. (Shew, I'm so glad we beat Northwood! Their guard was very clean... although the work they did was very simple.) They had like little clips of our dance and our Happy flag work b/c they came to our clinic back in May and that's the work we learned... I was like, why does that look so familiar?! Parade went a lot better than I thought it would. The guard did really well when we stopped in front of the judges... speaking of which, Norton did it too as well as a couple other bands. *LOL*, Kelly's the trendsetter! We also did really well on the field... we got 3 perfect caption scores and 19/20 in all the others. We had a 97 overall. The band judges gave the band 92, 92, 85... does anyone else but me see sompen wrong there? What did one of the judges see that the other two didn't that made a 7-point difference?! Oh well... I'm happy w/ our straight 1's and Best in Class award. Congratulations to Lee High... but we'll get the Cup next year! Watch out!
When they were giving out Best in Class, all of us Kelly ppl were standing on the sidelines holding hands whispering, "Please, please, please," over and over again cause we knew if Northwood got Best in Class, then there was no way we could win the Cup. When they said JJ Kelly... OMG, we all screamed and screamed and jumped around screaming some more and didn't shut up until they got to Lee High... who, of course, won best in their class, *LOL* We were all so nervous when they got to the winners of the Cup... and when they said from Jonesville, Virginia, I swear I just about died. We've worked so hard this year and it was a disappointment to lose the Cup. We really don't want ppl to think last year was just a fluke because it WASN'T! Shew. We were all on the field in a big red blob just crying and hugging each other and saying that we'll win next year... WHICH WE WILL! My make up was all smeared... big black lines running down my face, *LOL* Tom was crying. I really wanted to win the Cup for his senior year cause he's the biggest band geek I know. He needs to fail so we can win it for him next year!
Oh yeah! Jen & I met Jessica, Magen, and Jeana from Lee High. They're sweet girls. Jen & I didn't know what to say, *LOL*... Their show was really good... very loud playing. Although I didn't understand why all the smoke stuff came out in that one song, but yeah. *LOL* It was good!
Jen & I also talked to our Whitesburg ppl, but not for very long. We talked to em after the parade but we had to go change to go to pizza hut. Some of the rookies were like, "I don't wanna change on the bus..." but the veterans just stripped, with or without band ppl on the bus! It was kinda funny... we went to Pizza Hut and fought over pizza and salad, as usual. It was sad, b/c they brought out 2 cheese pizzas before me and Jen even got to get a piece. The ppl who aren't vegetarians kept attacking it!
At the high school when we first got there, Michael came in the band room laughing to say that Hannah's puppy stole her guard pants cause they were hanging on the line to dry after being washed. Daniel had to bring her some new ones... it's a good thing that he owns a marching store! *LOL*
On the bus ride home I found Andrew's hip bones and collarbone. And Sura, Whit, Andrew, and Markie beat me at thumb war. *Sigh* It made me sad.
