Neat!
I finally identified the spider that LOOOVES my patio! They are so ODD looking, but it took me forever to find it! I currently have 4 of these guys, their webs are ENORMOUS and really gorgeous. I seem to have only the yellow with red tipped spines variety, but they are really neat looking, like someone hand painted them.
I think it took me so long to find because, as that page says, I too was searching under "crab spider" because I didn't know what it was, and it looks most like a crab! Here's a crab spider.

Here's my patio spider...Gasteracantha cancriformis, or commonly known as the "Crab-like Spiny Orb Weaver."
