Hello, all. Didn't see this coming, did you?
The journal's been dead for so long, that I feel like an introductory post of sorts is in order. And I need to get rid of that Christmas post on top of the page
It's been haunting the journal quite long enough
I've been absent for so long it's not quite feasible (or in no way interesting anyway) to start going through all that's happened, but some most recent events maybe.
For one, about the new layout. I thought I'd start to properly embrace a name I came up with years ago (or more like realized it was there). 丸茎, "Marukuki" is a pretty neat 'japanification' of my familyname "Malkki", and it incorporates one of my favourite kanji as well; "maru".
"Kuki", "stem", in turn kinda lends itself to association to flowers, which I find rather cute
"Iemina" I would write with kanji for "house" -家- and "all" -皆-, but I like to use katakana for that, if anything.
I still prefer "Jemppu" anyway
Found this lovely vintage card from a stack of granny's old post cards.
Secondly, I finally set up a Deviant Art account
One of the many things I've been meaning to do for years. I'm
Marukuki If you're in there, by all means come say hi and maybe introduce me to any cutesy communities you think might be worth checking
This also seemed like a good time to start sharing accumulated
Coordiration photos on flickr. It's occured to me couple of times, that although I've had the account for years and it's been mainly for my toy hobbies, flickr would be a great arena for archiving years worth of cute photos as well (cue "d'uh" from any one of the countless people who are already doing exactly that and happen to be reading)
Only set back could be for the numerous people, who I suspect follow my gallery for Lego creations, and might not appreciate to get spammed with pink and cutesy photography all of a sudden
Then again I've not been posting anything but Moomin photos there most recently anyway, so what the heck. I doubt anyone's cared for those any more
Place gets easily messy when working.
Anyway!
Now that I'm starting to awaken from my slumber, I'm wondering where could be a good place start meeting and greeting cutesy inspired folks online nowadays
By quick glance egl community seems rather quiet these days. Or am I just so out of loop of how LiveJournal currently works, that I can't find the "action"?
Yes, certainly LJ's become a pretty quiet place since the last time I used it, but surely it's not completely empty yet? Right? So where are all the lolis and other such cute aficionados hiding these days? On the more hectic social media, then? Please, feel free to introduce yourselves! Here or anywhere on the more fast paced outlets
I've been on
Twitter for some years now, with varying degrees of activity. But recently it's been my go to place online, homebase of sorts. It's perfect for not allowing any of the minute tweaking I usually get caught up on, when posting stuff
(although I love it too)
I'm also on
instagram, which I only just recently got myself into
And
tumblr! I've previously peeked in every now and then, but only just set up an account as well and I'd love to connect with fellow cute enthusiasts. It's feeling pretty lonely there thus far
And I know you are out there
Plus I'm on Pinterest (and rapidly running out of ways to say "also"), though as of yet I've been bit vary of using it... I found one can easily get lost in there for hours at a time (which is kind of a set back in terms of productivity
)
Oh, and Yaplog. I've set up and decorated an account there as well, but am still hesitant as to how to start
It's bound to be imminent though, as it's constantly in mind. Twitter will know first, I'm sure. It seems to be conveniently linked.
Aand, I'm also on Facebook, but I'm probably not going to be posting there much, as it is full of family and I'm uncomfortable spamming my 'curious' hobbies for them to see
Although, here it is out in the open for anyone to see, it's just much less direct, than shoving it in anyone's feed *haha*. But do come follow
Muumipappa Muumila, if so inclined
One of the things I've kept myself busy for the past couple years has been revitalizing my childhood hobby of collecting early 90's moomin plushes, building a family of them.
They're on flickr as well (as previously mentioned).
Whew... that's a lot. Am I forgetting anything?
I'm unsure about the future of my Google+ account. I need to set up my phone for easier access. If anyone's using that, please, feel free to come and introduce yourself there as well
Links to all of the mentioned can be found around the journal; on the sidebar, on the banner at the bottom of the post and on my profile page
I'm looking forward to posting here still as well though. I'd love to get the journal going on again. It just seems that posts here deserve and require a certain amount more effort and finesse to put together, compared to the fast tracking, 'throw it out there' instant posting that seems the standard these days
Which is fine and great too, but I'd like something a bit more 'solid' like this journal here to accompany all that; a place for more gathered and put together posts... or something
They're all mostly pics anyway... with the exception of this here unusually wordy post I suppose
Okay! But right now I'm in the process of moving the Coordiration store on Zazzle under the name "Marukuki". Item by item
Considering that, it's lucky the store hasn't gotten any bigger than what it is yet
I also need to re-categorize the whole dang thing to make more sense of it.
The store on CafePress will probably remain under
Coordiration, though. I'm thinking that might be a good way for separating them from each other;
Coordiration store and
Marukuki store.
Printfection has unfortunately stopped providing store services, it seems
so the
Shirt collection will remain under Coordiration address and won't be updating anymore (like it hasn't for past few years... but could have
). Although, I did have the chance to change the appearance of it a bit before discovering the service had been terminated, and you can still order from there for now
Just can't add more stuff.
Also, it'd be nice to finally get some new items published once the stores are in any order. Have couple of works already waiting to be turned into something useful
I'll definitely be posting about those.
Until next time then
Recently acquired this lovely, genuinely retro shelf.
tl;dr I'm active again and would love to connect with you
See who all are out there in the cute world these days. Please, feel free to come say hi or follow in any way most suitable
