History:
Many years ago, Russia was small and weak, but his heart was pure and his mind was clear. He was a nation like any other, yet he came to be isolated by General Winter, who wrapped his icy arms around young Russia and swore to protect him and keep him always. With Winter's help, Russia grew bigger and stronger, but as a result he also grew colder. No one wanted his touch, they all turned away, and even he longed for warmth and sunshine. He despised that which protected him. His unstable sisters, Ukraine and Belarus, were little comfort to him.
When he realized that no one would ever reach out with kindness to him, he took the initiative and marched out to claim whatever he wanted. He beat down Poland and claimed Lithuania for his own (his favorite, his most precious one). Other Baltics were eventually forced to join him as well, quivering Latvia and mild Estonia. All the while, Russia was losing his mind. His bosses were cruel to him and cruel to his people, who in turn hated him. Their protests grew louder, twisting him up inside. One Sunday he turned to Lithuania and said, "We don't want children who can't play nice, right?" He massacred them, but it didn't bring him peace. His mind never recovered, and his hands have been bloody since.
Once among the strongest nations, others finally began to come to Russia for aid. He gave a halfhearted attempt at assisting France against Germany in the First World War, but he was too distracted by his own inner turmoil to be of much use. By the time the Second World War came around, Russia had reached a more enlightened state and was more interested in protecting members of his household than meddling in the affairs of his neighbors. He swore to keep peace with Germany, but it all fell apart when Germany double-crossed him anyhow. It wasn't difficult for the Allies to persuade him to join them in the fight, and he saw a good opportunity to help his friend China too. And in the end, Winter once again helped him to emerge victorious from the battle.
False memories:
Born during tumultuous times in a small Russian village, Ivan was a fragile child who was never quite given enough care by his parents. Neglected by a family always working to put food on the table, he was left to depend on his older brother Anatoly, and even he was too preoccupied to nurture the boy well. Ivan showed signs of instability from an early age, frequently mutilating small animals for the fun of it and beating on the neighbor children for no reason at all, which earned him frequent floggings in return and a reputation that ensured he would remain isolated into adulthood.
He put his skills to use in the military, enlisting as soon as he was allowed and then fighting gleefully in numerous battles. When he wasn't fighting on the lines, he worked as an officer in the Cheka, where his sadism was encouraged in the punishment of enemies to the Soviet Union.
When Russia was assimilated into NeoGenesis, Anatoly invited his younger brother to join him in Elysium. Ivan accepted, eager to get out of his tiny village and make new friends as well as get closer to the seat of power. He joined the NGPD as soon as he arrived and worked his way up to the position of sergeant.
