i will be the first to admit that USC looked awfully good last night, but in the midst of all the hoopla in the media about how good that team is, why is no one saying, "hey, ya know, maybe the BCS didn't get the right two teams in that game ( Read more... )

correct ma'am.

there should be a playoff. but they won't allow it. it makes no sense.

you can't name another sport in which you can win all your games and not win the championship. college football is the only one in which the "champion" (and I use that term loosely) is decided somewhere other than on the field. absolutely ridiculous.

it's all about money. but that's ridiculous. you can't tell me bowls wouldn't make more money if they had a playoff. put the top 8 teams in a playoff (sure, you'll have complaints over who is #8 just as you do over who is 65 in the basketball tournament, but isn't that better than arguing over who is #2?) and have them play in "bowl" games. sure the travel will be a pain but oh well, life goes on. every game will matter.

TV ratings go through the roof. some fans will travel but the venue will be able to sell tickets to local fans if they are convinced the game matters.

atlantans would go to the peach bowl if it was in the playoff for the national championship, just like people go to the ncaa basketball tournament even if their team isn't playing at the venue (i did it last year when the sweet sixteen was in atlanta).

with more TV ratings come, that's right, more advertising money, and with more advertising money comes, bigger payouts for the TV rights. with bigger payouts for the TV rights comes, bigger payouts to the teams, and then to the conferences, and everyone is a happy camper.
