my weekend
Fri: went home for Relay for Life. Our team captain did absolutely no organizing. She didn't set up at the right time, we didn't have a team banner or sign, and we didn't have something to carry while we walked. The captain's manual says stuff about all of this; apparantly it didn't get read. Oh well.
When we got home, we realized that something was wrong with Bonnie, one of our dogs. She's 13 and a half years old, so she's getting creaky. She didn't move at all on Fri. We brought her on the porch and gave her some water and food. She drank a lot of water, but didn't touch the food. She finally ate some ham, after not eating for 2 days. We thought we were going to have to put her down.
Sat: Bonnie was a little better, but not much. She still couldn't walk. She holds her head sideways and looks kinda disoriented. My uncle, a vet, says that there's something wrong with her balance because she thinks the world is spinning. My dad had to carry her outside so she could pee. We got her some canned dog food, which she can eat. Also we discovered that Colby, the other dog, has a hemotoma in his ear, which will require minor surgery. My mom told me something else that just added on to the overall depression of the day. My mom told me a week ago that a former coworker's husband was in a motercycle accident. Someone went into his lane, ran him off the road, and didn't even stop to see if he was hurt. He was riding with some other people who went to call for help. One side of his brain is bleeding outside, and the other side is bleeding inside his head. He has been in ICU for two weeks in a coma. Mom told me on Sat. that they pulled out everything but an IV, heart moniter, and a ventalator. It's only a matter of time now. What gets me is that, while I only talked with him two or three times, apparantly I had an affect on him. He was always telling my mom that he was amazed that I could make comebacks to his smartass comments (his quote). I think I'm still in denial about the whole thing.
Sun: went back to Gainsville today, and had chapter at Whitney's house. Found out more than I ever wanted to know about some people. All in all an interesting day.
