What could be the best month ever...

So, Too Many Sopranos wrapped up last night, and I'm on the train back to Portland (and some sense of normality... my own bed for more than two nights!!!!!) and the new roomies (and some Beatles Rock Band, what what?)...

It was a great production, well directed, really fun, and hilarious (and talented!) people- thank you all for a wonderful time. Mom and Sue Potvin came down to see it, and I actually got to spend some time with them on Saturday and Sunday- yeah Mike's Pastries! It was really funny to be getting them around Boston- people looking to me for directions? In a city? Weird...

Speaking of showing people around Boston, I also got to spend a good amount of time with Katy this week (ironically, more in Boston than we were able to spend together most of this summer). She just moved down to Boston this week to start her grad work at Simmons, and I miss her already. When we first saw each other on Thursday at the T station, she ran up, smiling, and gave me a big hug- it made my entire week. We explored Boston and Cambridge together on Thurs/Fri, and had really good ice cream (coffee/oreo @ JP Licks), and an amazing banana, strawberry, and dark chocolate crepe with vanilla ice cream and tea @ Mr. Crepe in Davis Square. YUM.

All in all, Boston was a blast- great people (yay cast, and thanks to Dana, Leslie, Evan, Kristen, Christie and Jed for letting me couchsurf!), some groovy food (SO MUCH ORZO), good times out and about (TMS cast, Evan and Kristen, Brian C., and Jed, with new friends Becca and Dave), and good music (kudos to you Michael Sakir!).

In the completely awesome side of things, it's shaping up to be one of the best months of my life. A preview:

Sep 22-Oct 1- Adam's coming up from Oklahoma to visit! I'm meeting him in Boston, where we'll be going to the Aquarium and dinner in the North End before returning to Maine.

October 2nd- I'm singing backup to BEN FOLDS with the Boston Symphony Pops at a SOLD OUT concert at Symphony Hall in Boston!!! It's going to be pretty epic.

October 3rd- I'm seeing Sufjan Stevens with Rob at a SOLD OUT concert at the Port City Music Hall.

In other news, my church choir is starting back up, and it's going to be an awesome final year (a Masterwork and a tour to Quebec!), I'll be judging District 1 high school auditions (just like a real teacher/singer), and I'll be conducting the USM Jazz Choir in their fall concert. Throw in me singing Haydn's Creation with the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra and North Shore Philharmonic (with my voice teacher Malcolm singing one of the other solos!), and singing Judge Danforth in the Crucible scene in Opera Workshop this semester, and things are kind of ROCKING right now in the life of John.

Today- back to Portland and catching up with the roomies, first vocal lit class with Kathleen Scott and Mary Bastoni, first Op Shop music rehearsal.

Let the awesomeness commence.
