Well, I'm glad I took PTO when I did

I was on vacation through October 12, and boy, am I glad I took it then! Work has been a wee bit hectic since then, including a marathon session this weekend - both my boss and I have been in the office (where I'm typing now on a short break) all day yesterday and today, and I've been informed we're staying tonight until we finish the project we have due on Tuesday. That's OK, but I miss my weekend.

On the other hand, the vacation was glorious! Aside from the "Friday Night Lights" set visit (which was awesome - I still can't believe we got to hang out some with Connie Britton, Brad Leland, Steve Harris, and Taylor Kitsch, as well as chat with Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemons and several members of the new cast), azewewish and I got to spend a lot of quality time with annkiri and soylahtayplease, which was amazing. I miss those women! And Brenda was an incredible travel partner. We had a great time.

While in Austin we tried avocado margaritas (yum), visited the State Capitol, shopped vintage stores on South Congress, and spent a wild night out with my old friend, JC, on 4th Street. There was waaaay too much food and waaaay too much alcohol, but it was all good. I got home in time to see speedyrock before she headed back to the Midwest, and celebrate editorzon's birthday belatedly, which was great.

And although work promises to be insane this coming week, the weekend is shaping up nicely, with a play called "Naked Boys Singing" - which really IS naked boys singing! - on one night, and a play about the ramifications of the Matthew Sheppard murder, "Tha Laramie Project: 10 Years Later," on another day, which has an incredible cast - James Cromwell, Zachary Quinto, Jim Parsons, Michael Weatherly, Julie Benz, and Lisa Edelstein, to name a few. I imagine that one will be hard to watch, but it's important to see it.

And on top of that, Little Adam Lambert got his first solo record leaked onto the internet this weekend! If I had to work this weekend, it was nice to get an original vocal from him as a consolation prize.

So, things are looking up, which is good, because man, I miss my friends! I hope y'all all had a great weekend! And special props to without_me, who walked in the Los Angeles AIDS Walk this morning. Way to go, A!
