Masks

Recently I have been doing a lot of stuff about Halloween, classes, parties for the elementary school kids and of course the Poporo Halloween bash. For all of them I have worn the same costume, "Serial Killer" made up of bloodstained overalls and a mexican wrestler mask. well, not in the classes I did, just at the parties.

The elementary stuff was fun. I (we) made kids cry in the Haunted House, some were so scared they woldn't even open the door! They did all seem to enjoy it though, even the ones who were visibly scared of me. About halfway through the party though I began to feel a bit different, and the mask stopped itching, like I had become used to it. The activities soon finished however, the mask came off and all was back to normal.

At the Poporo party however the mask was on for a lot longer, and th feeling stayed for longer. It was almost as if I was watching another person go around the party, talking to people who looked a lot like friends of mine. I soon got the feeling that other people were having the same idea. There was also some alcohol involved, which no doubt affected things as well, but other parties involve drinking and they never seem to degenerate as quickly as the Halloween parties do.

The end of the night is bit of a blur (I shan't go into any details here anyway), but there certainly was an atmosphere there. A sense of uncertainy, that anything could happen, and whatever it was, we would be ready and go with it. It felt right for the spirit of Halloween somehow.

Maybe it was the masks, maybe it was something else....
