Superman Returns

Superman Returns- Almost everyone is going to have a pre-conceived notion about this movie. Either you're one of the loyal fans who have fallen in love w/ this movie months before it was even released or you don't care much about the character but decided to go see it anyway because the previews looked good. I fall on the second option. Relax everybody, over all, it was a good film and you'll probably love it, but don't expect me to give it a good rating. Here's why:

Like I foresaw a day before, the main villain falls flat. Okay, so he has a few funny lines and all, but up against the man of steel? Brotha had no hope. Superman shouldn't be stoping common bank robbers and rich kids trying to rule the world. For this kind of hero that's indistructable and refered to as a God (which he pretty much is), he should be fighting giant robots or something. This super-hero movie has almost everything except for the Super part. We've already seen "hero saves people in danger" scences before and usually done so much better too (Spider-Man 1&2). This movie has a dozen of those and none of them are truly exciting.

The first half is very interesting, funny, and fun in general (while lacking excitement). Towards the middle-end it starts to lose momentum. So much potential gone to ruin because quite frankly, Superman had no one interesting to fight w/. The climax was long and should have been the most exciting thing ever, but it just wasn't. It was soooooo boring! I was almost begging them to hurry up and end already. I was ready to leave when the world was saved but the movie keep dragging on and on.

In conclution, most of the Clark Kent bits were either funny, cute, or interesting, but when he actually played hero, they were uninspired, unexciting, boring. This is not the kind of movie you go home hyped about and talk to ur friends telling them some of the more exciting scences. No, there weren't any. You go home talking about what a great film it was. Kinda like Batman Begins: the acting, quality and mood are there; it's just not very exciting. When the credits rolled, people actually started clapping. I was too bored and inpatient and just wanted to get out. So, if u liked Batman Begins, this is proabably ur type of movie as well. Not mine though. I like my super hero movies a little more super.

Rating: 4/10
