My early Christmas present came: a Graphire4 4"x5"
Wacom tablet! It allows me to draw directly in Photoshop (now using version CS2!). Now I can eliminate the sketch on paper, ink the outlines, scan it to my old desktop computer, copy the scan onto my laptop for editing, import & arrange the players, do some voodoo to separate the lineart from the white background, and that setup jazz process. With the tablet I can draw straight lineart in it's own layer.
This short comic I drew 100% in Photoshop (sans the background & ribbon outline). I drew it at a 1:1 ratio and the lineart came out smooth, not crisp. I'll have to start drawing several times bigger then shrink it down in place to get the crisp lines I desire. And I need to work on steady lines vs speed to draw -- these two cats took me an hour to draw their outlines, so hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep.
Ah yes, CI continues to be an experiment & creative outlet for me. =)
Note the new appearance of subtle hightlights: shirts, collars, skin. Most noticeable on Maestro's shirt on the left and Diavo's hair. I'm learning!
