You know what I did last night (this morning)?
No I wasn't out slaughtering myself through alcohol and dancing on tables at house parties. No, I wasn't out at some rave abusing all sorts of funky substances. No, I wasn't out husband hunting, seeking to secure my future and self worth as a twenty-something-or-other with a potential mate. What are you, my Mum? (The chances of her adopting grandchildren grow with each passing day...)
I was up all hours of the night watching
The Hero of Time, a completely unofficial, fan-made production based on The Legend of Zelda's Ocarina of Time. I blame Justine and that 20 minutes Amy needed to shower and get ready. Seriously, I just could not look away from this movie.
It was, well... Different to say the least.
It wasn't the mindbogglingly terrible effects (mind you for a fan-made thing, it was all right. Maybe?) or the quality of acting that killed it for me, it was more the script and the editing that made me cringe with uncontrollable laughter. I don't know, but just some of the things that we said and some of the camera work was hilarious and made no sense. It got to about 20 minutes left of the movie and you could really feel the writers thinking "Hell, we still have three more boss fights, endgame battles AND movie resolution..! Whatever, just do whatever. Off screen you say? Sure. Great."
What it did have was a lot of heart and enthusiasm. I think they're going to work on something else at some stage and to be completely honest, I'm kinda stoked. I'd definitely look out and watch it. I'll will probably cringe and laugh for all the same reasons as I did with this movie but these guys have wicked guts and ambition and it was a little epic in their own way.
Kinda.
What is nice is that I'm feeling a rather lovely nostalgic Zelda surge again. It's all beautiful.
I then played
Lords of Magic (picked it up from Good Old Games a couple of days ago) for who knows how long. That game had a firm grip on my soul. Was soooo close to finishing it too. Next time.
Now that I've totally killed whatever social life I had left, I understand if you all want to see other people. It's ok. I'll just be here waiting for some
fan group to upload another movie. I'll be fine.
