CHARACTER
NAME: Ran Mouri
AGE: 17
FANDOM/MEDIUM: Anime/Manga
CANON PULL-POINT: Chapter One: When Shinichi runs off to chase after the "men dressed in black" (prior to his shrinkage).
ABILITIES: Ran is naturally lucky, having never lost a game of cards or gambling. She is also a karate champion, and the captain of her high school's team. She is also an excellent caretaker, able to cook and clean and care for her father. Canon has shown that she has an intermediate comprehension of English (not that it'd be relevant in this game).
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
Ran's Wiki PageCHARACTER PERSONALITY: Ran is, above all, a generous and doting individual. She genuinely cares for those that she loves, and will not hesitate to put herself in the line of danger for their sake. Often this results her taking little consideration into what that entails, and how that effects those around her. She can be somewhat short-sighted and reckless, even if her motives are pure. Her driving motivation is her strong sense of loyalty, which is near impossible to waver once it's earned in spite of all logic pointing to a less savory reality.
The daughter of famed Inspector Kogoro Mouri has a strong sense of justice, having been raised by a former police inspector and grown up with an aspiring detective. She will speak up whenever she sees that something is not right, and she holds steadfast even in the most difficult times. Ran sincerely (and perhaps naively) believes that everyone is essentially a good person, and that criminals make the choice towards the path of crime. She has a hard time believing that people capable of killing someone could genuinely be capable of loving. This makes the murders of lovers in particular especially difficult for her to handle. Perhaps her outlook on human relationships is a bit idealized, but it is that ideal that makes her so caring and selfless.
Being a young woman with such strong convictions, Ran is prone to crying when her feelings become over-whelming. Several people have taken note of this, often in surprise at the vulnerability of an otherwise resilient and enduring individual.
Although Ran is a patient and loving young woman, she is not without her flaws. Her strong sense of justice does make her somewhat of a killjoy at times, be it trying to hold Shinichi down when all he wants is to dive into the thick of a crime, or reminding her father that he can't afford to gamble on horse races this weekend or the next. Ran sometimes takes on too much responsibility, and forgets that at times she needs to have fun and enjoy being a girl.
Ran also has a crippling fear of the supernatural. She does not enjoy going into creepy areas, and is often jumpy in such scenarios.
Ran's personality can't be complete without mention of her childhood friend Shinichi Kudo. They have grown up together and have always remained close; and Ran is essentially the brawn to Shinichi's brains. She has remained loyal to him at all times, and while she is clearly kind and friendly towards him, she hasn't been entirely forthcoming about her romantic feelings for him. It's a mix of teenage insecurity (as Shinichi is the most popular boy in school--and does he really see her as a girlfriend type?) and annoyance in his obsession with criminal investigation. She's not entirely sure that Shinichi has enough space in his mind (or his heart, for that matter) to have two loves. Therefore, she pines for him in secret, keeping her eyes peeled for any inkling of hope that Shinichi cares for her as more than a friend.
WORLD: Ran Mouri comes from modern day Tokyo. It is a developed city with a great deal of metropolitan luxuries. It is on the cutting edge of technology, with the world's most efficient public transportation. It is lacking in wilderness, and is abundantly safe. You cannot see the horizon, as it is filled with highrise buildings and skyscrapers. The sky is rarely blue-typically hazy with humidity or mild fog. If you're lucky, in the crisp winter, you can see Mt. Fuji in the distance. Most of the time though, it's hidden in the mist.
Most people live in small apartments called "mansions," and commute to work or school. Ran is fortunate enough that her father's office is in their home. Due to her father's profession and her childhood sweetheart's obsession, Ran is no stranger to murders and criminal activity. Therefore homicide is not something to keep her down, although she's never quite gotten used to it.
OCCUPATION: Teacher or Baker...I'm okay with either! :3

THIRD PERSON:
Shinichi might have said he was doing fine without her, but by surveying the contents of the wagon, it was clear he was lying.
How had he gone this far without her? It's a miracle that the wagon hadn't fallen apart by now, or been infested with insects, the way the food rations were thrown about! Geez...
"Well, time to get to work!" Ran rolled up her sleeves and tied her long hair back with a tie. They had reached a stopping point for the evening, and the sun was still up for at least another hour. While Shinichi was out--doing whatever he was doing, building a fire?--Ran would tidy up the wagon so it was somewhat liveable. This was going to be their home for the unforeseeable future, so she could at least make it a little more pleasant!
FIRST PERSON:
Text
...I've never seen a night as dark as this before. We have candles burning, but is it really enough to see what's out there?
I know we have the wagon to sleep in, but is it really enough to keep things out? Never mind that I'm nervous, what about the oxen being easily spooked?!
...did anyone hear that? It sounded like a ghost...but ghosts aren't real, right? It just...sounds like someone crying. Like a mournful "woooooo..."
Agh! How does anyone expect me to sleep like this?! ;_;
NOTES: Nope! This is a fabulous concept! <3
