MPI
Wow, long time not update...anywho, here we go!
1) I just finished Middlesex, and it is an AMAZING book!!! If you haven't read it (especially if your name is Michelle Salemka and/or Teresa Sine) and you don't read it, you pretty much don't deserve to live. It is very well written, and yeah, it's a Pullitzer!!!!
2) I am working full time at MPI Research in Mattawan as an intern, which is crazy cause it's my first full time job ever, and yeah, I am tired. MPI Research does animal testing for pharmacutical testing (all you animal rights people, spare me, if you understood ANYTHING about animal testing, you would not be against it). I was very nervous at first because I was against animal testing and thought it was cruel, but this job has taught me a lot, and opened my eyes to a lot of things, that I am very greatful for. This job is giving me lots and lots of money, so that is happy as well. Pretty much, I am in the clinical medicine department meaning that I take care of the animals that get sick while they are at MPI. It's pretty crazy cause some of these guys are really sick, and I get to run emergency codes (when an animals is coding, or there heart stops/stop breathing for you non-medical people) with one of the vets so thats exciting. It surprises me how much I get to do with animals that would require so much certifactions (and degrees in some cases) if I were to perform these same tasks on humans. Basically, in an emergency, I can do whatever necessary to save the animals lives, including pushing drugs, intubating, etc. It's pretty crazy, but I have a lot of fun, so yeah, and it's great experience!!! Oh, and the best part of it all are the crazy species of animals that I get to work with:
-Rats
-Mice
-Pigs
-Sheep
-Chinchillas
-Dogs
-Cats
-Rabbits
-AND MONKEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so excited today was my first day with the monkeys and they are SOOOOO adorable. Some are mean, but what can you do. You just put your hand out with food in it and they just reach their hands through the cage and take the food from you. It is the most adorable thing in the world!!!!!
3) This is my first day for an entire week with my laptop back thanks to the "O" and "E" keys falling off.
4) Kasia, my dance partner from Ann Arbor is coming to Kzoo saturday so we can dance and she can meet some of my crazy friends.
5) All my friends are getting along for the moment, which is a miracle in itself!
