Stark 001 [video]

[So Somarium, have a Tony who has taken his sweet time doing any sort of Dreamberry post, probably because of the flood and him having to spend so much time settling in prior to it. But anyway, he's got things he needs to ask that can't really be put on hold any longer.]

Okay people of Somarium, a few things:

Number one, where does a guy go to get a ( Read more... )

Can't really help with the first two, but I find most of my parts just trolling the warehouses. There's all sorts of great parts just lying around ditched because one bit or another doesn't work. Easy fixer-uppers or salvages.

Warehouses? Would those be in the industrial district I've heard about? I mean, I'm sure I'd find them because they'd be hard to miss but I'd rather know just where I'm going for my parts because it's not so much about fixer-uppers and more about taking them apart, stripping things out and trying to refurbish them so they're to my own specifications.

Yeah, I get what you mean. That's pretty much my gig too. There's plenty of them in the Industrial district but I'd watch your back there right now. It's pretty hairy.

So what's the day job then? And define 'hairy' - we talking flood induced damage.

Don't have a steady one at the moment, actually. Before coming here, I was working on upgrading a combat unit. Had lots more layers of nanoarmor to lay down.

As for "hairy," I mean there's a lot of desperate people there right now. Just don't go out there unarmed.

[Okay, forever pinged by this because it sounds intriguing as hell.]

What company do you work for because there aren't many I've heard of who have that technology or who even look at it because, believe me, I'd have heard of it because Stark Industries is always at the forefront and cutting edge.

Desperate people I can handle, I'll be in the suit anyway.

Well ... [he pauses for a moment, because he's nothing if not cautious. But, taking into consideration that this is a dream world, nothing he says really matters, so ...] Seeing as I'm a top mechanic in the Mafia, my "employers" aren't exactly on the up-and-up, but they're good people. Never heard of Stark Industries though.

Suit? What's that? [His turned to be pinged forever.]

Why does the mafia need mechanics? [He's a fan on the old movies, the mafia classics and...yeah, not quite getting it.] You wouldn't be the first here I guess, still something that's gonna take a bit of getting used to.

Ah, the Iron Man suit, it's a flight suit, got repulsor capabilities, pretty indestructible. Handy for being a hero.

Why wouldn't the Mafia need a mechanic? I'm the best there is, after all.

A hero, huh. So since it's a suit, you wear it rather than, say, ride in it? Must be pretty light-weight then too. What's the armor made out of? What keeps it on? What's the power source? I could go on like this for hours.

They're all cars and guns and yeah, cars need fixed but from what I've seen, there's a high turnover rate anyway to keep them from being implicated.

It'd surprise you. I've got a more lightweight version at home but it's about thrust and there's a lot of adjustments so it can fly. You can see the power source though. [People probably just don't know it's a power source but the blue glow is very visible through his shirt.] I'm actually not totally comfortable having this discussion over a network because you don't know who might be looking for my secrets but once I get the workshop up and running, you're free to come over.

"Cars and guns," huh? Sounds like the Mafia where you come from hasn't kept up with the modern world. Seems like a waste.

Hm. Haven't figured out how to encrypt signals yet? Though, with how moody the Dreamberries are, it's not like it'd do you much good. They're brats, seriously. Where's your shop gonna be?

My knowledge is from classic movies; The Godfather, that sort of thing.

I need to run a few tests on encryptions first but that's always the issue using tech someone else came up with; you never really know just how secure things really are. The workshop will most likely be in the industrial district if I work out good enough security or business and arts even if it's not going to be either of those things.

Godfather? [He actually looks a little bit amused.]

I'll keep an eye out for it.
