Name: Uchiha Obito
Fandom: Naruto
Timeline: Just after Obito and Kakashi part ways over their argument and debate over Rin’s kidnap.
Chapter 242Age: 13
Appearance:
With short jet black hair and dark eyes, Obito is an Uchiha. He’s not very tall even with a thin build, and commonly dresses in dark navy blue or black clothing- always with an orange trim and the Uchiha crest of an acorn uchiwa(fan) on his back. He wears his headband in its traditional place- the forehead- and dons orange-tinted goggles over his eyes with frequency.
Abilities:
With basic taijutsu, he’s training speed, seal knowledge, and fire Ninjutsu as a traditional Uchiha’s strengths and in preparation for the activation of his Sharingan.
Personality:
Obito is childish, immature, and a bit of an idiot. He’s carefree and laid-back, not at all concerned for rules and regulations, and proves this by frequently appearing late to mission spots or meetings. Such instances are usually accompanied by a lame excuse for his tardiness. Despite his carefree attitude, however, he harbors a deep self-doubt in his own abilities, and as a ‘loser’ born to an elite clan, he strives to prove himself to everyone.
Loyal to his friends and teammates, Obito is more than willing to put his life on the line for the ones he cares about. He has a crush on his female teammate that he’s never admitted to, and a strained relationship and rivalry with Kakashi, though obviously, he respects him and tries to pretend he doesn’t care about him. Quick to tears, he frequently covers this by complaining of eye irritation, carrying a small bottle of eye drops with him everywhere and using them frequently despite the goggles he wears over his eyes.
History:
Born to the Uchiha clan, a family of elite shinobi, Obito isn’t exceptionally talented. He graduated from the Academy at 9, however, and achieved the rank of Chuunin two years later. He was placed under the supervision of NamiKaze Minato and his teammates included Rin and Hatake Kakashi. Since meeting her, Obito’s had a crush on his female teammate, but has never mentioned anything to her. She’s a medical ninja, and, much to his delight, has treated many of his injuries.
Obito has an odd relationship with Kakashi, a respected shinobi and one who bests him in most everything skill wise, and constantly argues with him over everything; Rin acting as a mediator between them most of the time. Insecure in his own abilities, he’s quick to defensive anger when accused of being inadequate. He secretly views himself as a ‘washout’ of the Uchiha clan, and hopes to best or at least equal his rival and teammate once he gains the use of his Sharingan, the clan’s hereditary BloodLine Limit.
Because of constant criticism from his clan and teachers, Obito has shown a determination to prove himself capable to everyone. Despite his words and their arguments, Obito wants nothing more than to get along with all of his team, and cares very deeply for them.
On one mission, however, with doubt eating at him, Obito asks Minato about Kakashi. Learning and understanding the reason behind his teammate’s uptight and strict behavior and mannerisms, he begins to play a little nicer, but all of that changes the next day when Rin is kidnapped.
With the mission objective in mind, Kakashi determines they have to finish it first; reasoning that the enemy won’t kill Rin because of her use of them being a medical shinobi. Obito’s furious, and with Minato-sensei’s lecture in mind, yells about teamwork and friendship, and thus her safety should come first. They don’t agree, and with harsh words, both split up to pursue their individual goals.
Roleplay Sample - Log:
“But I just had ramen yesterday!” Obito complained, flailing and crossing his arms over his chest with a huff. He was not happy with the ramen stand in front of him if the childish pout on his lips was any indication. The 13 year old tapped his foot impatiently on Konoha’s dirt road and kicked a pebble moodily. It flew into the ramen shop and hit the metal of a barstool with an unsatisfying ‘clink’.
Running an agitated hand through his spiky black hair and figuring he had no other choice, Obito huffed again and strode into Ichiraku Ramen, plopping down on an empty stool with an irritated look at the other patrons as if it was their fault he lost his wallet. And who knew? Maybe it was. The coupon crumpled in his pocket was only specific to this one restaurant, however, and he ordered one large miso ramen.
“And it better be good.” He added grudgingly to the man behind the counter.
Sighing impatiently, Obito propped an elbow on the counter and rested his chin on his hand. The action caused his lips to scrunch into a permanent attitude of distaste. He ignored the looks he was getting from other customers and swung his legs under the table. No, he didn’t care if everyone thought he was a badmouthed brat, he’d prove his skills to them one day.
‘Extra lessons, my ass.’ Obito snorted mentally, his face souring further at the reminder. ‘More like he needs some lessons on social skills. Bastard.’
The smell of food was promising however, and it was quick to diminish the irritation he felt toward his teammate. He groaned as his stomach growled, and barely refrained from ordering the old man to hurry the hell up already. He was hungry, dammit, and Kakashi ordered him to be on time.
To his relief, however, the next bowl was his and he didn’t even wait for it to be set down in front of him before he was plucking apart his chopsticks. Despite his earlier complaining, the ramen set in front of him looked mouthwatering.
Screw Kakashi. He could wait.
“Itadakimasu!"
