I think this is a much better test, providing more accurate results and analysis from fewer questions. It (correctly) describes me as a borderline social democrat/socialist. In addition to a really smart methodology, it provides some really cool distributions by country, for comparison.

System: Socialism

Socialism is a political system that blends NonConformance and Interdependence.

Socialism believes society can and should be organised along social lines, that is, for the benefit of all, rather than for what is perceived as the profit of a few [Interdependence]. Its key ideas are opposition to capitalism, and a belief in equality, both political and economic [NonConformance].

Variation: Economic Socialism

Economic Socialism is the variation of Socialism that emphasizes Interdependence over NonConformance ( ... )

Like lefty minds prowl online at the same time. Be sure you take the long one. Their "short" test is pretty useless and inaccurate.

Unfortunately they don't have convenient cut-and-paste html. The results I posted were hobbled together on my own, linking their images.

Your scored -3.5 on the Moral Order axis and 2.5 on the Moral Rules axis.

System: Socialism
Variation: Moderate Socialism
Ideologies: Social Democratism

I was going to ask you how to post the reuls and diagrams ???
And you meant 'cobbled together', methinks ;-)

Cobble, yes.

You know, this whole business of comparative politics makes me think about how a democratic system can control and shape political ideas within in. Look how long it took me to reach some coherent idea of what my politics were, when no American political party really reflects them. And to think how many people don't pay much attention to what they think? Freedom indeed.

Ther answer may be having more than the two parties - as realistic alternatives.
We have 'Conservatives' (unfortunately, the current government - but, at least, just a 'minority for now)
"Liberals" - the usual party in power over the decades. Out for a rest and a 'rebuild' at the moment - but watch Michael Ignatieff.
"New Democratic Party", our 'social democrat lefties' - perennial 'third party' - although a good moderating influence on the ruling party - especially in times of minority governments. Often form majority Provincial governments - another good influence on Ottawa.
"Le Bloc" - currently #3 in Canada, despite being 'separatist' - French social democrats (perhaps). Le Parti Quebecois is likely to form the next provincial government in Quebec. The PQ leader is, interestingly, an open gay.
"Green Party" ... no seats at the moment, but growing.

By the way, I'm into part 4 of the Karl Polanyi program. Really an excellent analysis; I find a good deal to relate to in his life and thought. I'll have to pick up The Great Transformation sometime.
