Old farts and boxes ...cool_mooseAugust 2 2007, 05:20:09 UTC
. I try to encourage all people of your age that "it really will happen; it really will all work out". Geoff and Donna have waited for this magic moment for over 10 years. They were patient and never gave up their dream. The 'twenties' are such a drag, sometimes - a time to figure things out, get the 'bus fare' (a degree or two? Some career prep?) paid, lay the foundations for great things to come.
The trouble is, sometimes, particularly for people who mature intellectually years ahead of most, that impatience & frustration is depressing. I was lucky, I think, in having parents who drilled into me the certainty that life's treasures are there - waiting to be found. I tried to pass that on to Peter and Geoff - and, these days, they say "You know, the old fart was right".
I am proud of things I've been able to do - but I guess I've gotten past the need to 'open the boxes' - at least on work-related things. But the 'boxes' were great to have for a while - they fulfilled their purpose. Make sure that your house, one day (in your 40's-50's), has LOTS of storage space. There will be many boxes.
I've been having fun with the above picture of WOO - look at how BIG his right arm is - reaching right around Donna's back. :-)
