so today was ok. woke up 11am. walked a mile to rent "Waking Life". I'm really excited. Friend told me that it is AMAZING and like "Memento". it was such a beautiful day in the area today. i really suggest (i keep saying "really". stop it marcus) "Cal" (as we students call it) or the University of California, Berkeley to any and everyone who wants to go to college. Aside from the spectacular and breathtaking sites of the bay and golden gate bridge, the people are just amazing. i mean, when you walk around, i guess for me, i got the feeling of indescribable contentedness... if that's a word. kinda no word to describe it. just that feeling where you are so appreciative of the air you breathe. n e way, ya, sounds like a stupid advertisement for the skool. but it's pleasant when all your world falls apart to just get out and just be. no words or thoughts to think about. i came back to have dinner with another friend. boy... what an awesome guy and what a brilliant conversation. puts me more in perspective about what goes on in humanity's life... and i say humanity cuz it's collective - what things go on in every individual that comprises our race. ate a basket of frenchy fries at a 50s diner and a vanilla milkshake. simply had a wonderful day... anything of course to procrastinate doing the billions of pages of reading that i have to do. ok ok, 20 billion pages. ne way, maybe watching the aforementioned movie will top it off in a terrific way. we'll see marcus.
brief bio. ok, not so brief. just bored marcus. sheesh.
18 in age. 12 years old at heart. ok, maybe younger at heart.
grandma emigrated from Guatemala. she had my mom at 25 or so. husband left grandmother. my mom enrolled in an American private secretary skool in Guatemala. got a certificate. to pay for that, grandma did the whole coyote thing where you travel in a bus for a period of 20 days or so, no shower lil food or water. then she had to cross the desert and lay low. what an amazing woman. there' just no words to her wonder and awe. worked as a cleaning lady in beverly hills. used clorox for the toilet bowls. sent money back to pay for mom's skooling. mom then finally came here at 18. when mom was young she was the validictorian equivalent at her skool and blacked out after drinking too much. my grandma disappointed and her title got taken away. huge mistake, but its ok. mom came over and went to LA City College. got her AA degree while living downtown. worked at arby's and later bank of america. met dad. dad has a mediocre relationship to his family. he left after graduating in simi valley and travelled everywhere in a car, sleeping in it and paying for a membership at a fitness center only to take showers. worked at six flags magic mountain before six flags bought it. was a supervisor. went to LA City college but never finished. got offered a yob at Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Pasadena. NASA then partnered with it. worked there for 15 years. while going to skool, met mom, both got married. Moved to reseda, california (San Fernando valley north of LA in LA county) in a condo for a year when i was born. challenger exploded that year. then moved to current house in Winnetka which used to be Canoga Park, california. few miles from condo. mom while she was pregnant with me continued going to Cal State Los Angeles cuz bank of america paid her tuition. she graduated in business with a B.A. started working for Chubb insurance company after working at Blue Cross as a claims examiner. Chubb was in LA and pretty far from home. she had to take the bus. sisters born after me. 2 sisters. 2 years younger than me and 5 years younger than me. i went to welby way elem. skool. at the time it was a Magnet skool. accelerated program that my mom heard about. in second grade i stole money from my parents. 200 hundred dollars. don't know what went through my head. i dreamt of buying a game boy i think. that's why. got in trouble. lost trust. don't really rember preskool. went to first grade at sunnybrae. then welby way. << that skool is like 15 miles away. so i got bussed and cried the first day. was in the "fast" group which was being the "quick" group in second grade. early segregation. 3rd grade, don't rember doing much. i made a project about native americans i think. in 4th grade i did an egg drop thing. erased answers of a girl's test cuz she was getting less errors than me. stupid i know. what a bad kid i was. went to carmel to study the mission there. then had a project in that too. 5th grade. was in a play about aliens. i was the evil leader. then went to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania as a class field trip. Lived in cabins and learned about 1776 and american revolution. traveled to see independence hall, liberty bell and the philadelphia mint. then to new jersey. don't rember n e thing there. then went to the 110th floor of the world trade center. ate dippin' dots at that floor. pretty breathtaking to be that high. scary too. elevator experience was surreal cuz it went about 15 miles per hour cuz there are a lot of elevators going to different sections. floors 1-25, 26-56. stuff like that. went else where in charter bus while watching sound of music. that summer went to Guatemala and to the Tikal Mayan ruins. also Antigua, the original capital city, but was destoroyed in an earthquake. active volcano in the background. new mall built called Tikal Futura. Zona 5, Guatemala City is where my grandma's sister lives. sheez my godmother too when i got baptized there. i rember buying toy cars and matchbox cars. cars i still own. =) started middle skool at sepulveda magnet in north hills, california. still 15 miles away from me in the san fernando valley. read the Giver. To kill a mockingbird. dropped out of the highest english class in 8th grade cuz i would have had to do a 15 page paper on robert browning. hated the dispatches. prolly a mistake. one guy bullied me... called me "fag". he thot he was the greatest. liked using "queer" and "fag" a lot in his sentences. wonder where he is now. maybe doing drugs, getting an STD. summer of 7th grade went to europe. great experience. love traveling. new found at the time in my life. went to see Schloss Neishweinstein (sp.?) in Vienna or Bavaria, Austria. famous prince lived there, was found to be homosexual and later assassinated by drowning in lake nearby. castle nestled in between two alpine mountains with pine trees and a waterfall runs next to it into the lake. it was the castle (schloss) which disney based his magic castle on. first flew to frankfurt, germany. was so tired cuz flight took a while. nice charter bus and bus driver and tour guide. drove miles to rothenburg and hiedelburg. in hiedelburg there was a castle overlooking a small river valley with an old bridge. rothenburg had a huge town cuckoo clock on one of its old buildings. mc donalds was in the area. the germans use mayonnaise in substitute for ketchup for fries. torture chamber was there. drove to munich, germany. legal drinking age: 12 years old. passed berlin and BMW headquarters. also, visited summer palace of a prince. it was big. food was bad. i'm a picky eater. the most picky in the world. they had for dinner this tomato/cheese soup. a girls mom who was a chaperone was criticizing me for not eating. "eat it!" she said in her high pitched voice. my mom who went with just looked on. lol. i wasn't wrong about my scent of the soup. so gross i almost vomitted on the table of 30 people of our tour group. didn't take another bite. stupid woman. so then the waiter who is a guy refused to give me napolean ice cream as dessert. but the girl waiter served it to me. what a lovely girl. apparently, if i don't eat the main course it's utterly disrespectful. so the guy waiter was mad at me. oh well. i think i'd do bad if i visited germany and had to eat there. later had a turnip soup that was good. marinated chicken later on too. and excellent dinner rolls. i saw a 1:18 scale of a mercedes toy car sedan. 40 franks. 16 american dollars. mom said no. could never find it after i got back to the states. went to liechstenstein which is actually an independent country the size of berkeley or san fernando valley. from there hit Switzerland. mom bought 2 swiss army knives. then onwards to paris, france. the subway smelled like urine. everyone and their mother smoked cigarettes. there's a eurodisney there. went to the top of the tourre de eiffel. not sure if that's how you spell tower in french. it was pretty cool. we drove under the tunnel where princess diana was killed (it was in france). took a ferry to dover, england and said farewell to our busdriver. people in london messed up our reservations so we went to another hotel... the omincron or something. after we got off the boat, we went on the tour bus and it was so weird. the enter dooor was on the left. i forgot that the english drive on the left side of the road. (later i was told it was cuz when the british knights were fighting on the roads [king's highway], they would hold their lances in their right hand. so the king's high way had the right of ways changed and were mandated that the horses and knights which crossed would lance about. it was only after the american revolution that the continental congress in a random way decided to change it) got to picadilly circus in downtown london. its equivalent to time square in new york. coca cola signs, burger king. i love london t-shirts. tourist like. i went to this barbie museum. also a toy museum. briefly went to the tower of london. something like bloody mary had so many people killed that ghosts still lurk there. saw westminsters abby, the houses of parliaments and big ben. didn't see the london eye, and then crossed london bridge. went to harrod's where i fell in love with the car toy floor. (there are about 8 floors of things). there was this gasoline powered ferrari and mercedes that was for a toddler small enough to drive. colin ferrel just bought his son one. a 2 year old. it has 2 speeds to it. then went to the train section. OMG.. i was driven mad with jealousy and wanted it so bad. 500 pounds plus. for ever pound, 2 american dollars. what else? flew home. 8th grade was ok. pretty slow. learned to flip the colors of the rainbow on a paper and string so fast that they turned into white. light is essentially white and all the colors of the rainbow. displacing it with a prism splits the colors. amazing stuff. learned about atoms and planets. had to do a project on argon. dont' rember squat except that it's an inert gas. graduated. went to san fernando magnet high school after. i had a choice of going to 3 area high schools which were rated in the district as the top 3 and very prestigious. i wanted to start over and not deal with stupid middle school drama. learned later that many people go through it. pretty much after middle skool i was exposed to some of life's not so nice stuff... the stuff that's usually more real than traditional nice things. say like i was introduced to people actually doing drugs and stuff like that. i was a momma's boy up till highschool. well i still am but in a repressed sense. 9th grade was boring. pissed of the 9th grade class cuz i said something pretentious. the high school is 99.9% hispanic. the community is low-income. had no friends. first girl friend. she was big and everybody was confounded when we started dating, first cuz she was big and second cuz everyone thot i fancied boys. lasted 3 months. i ended it. i figured i did it cuz everyone else was doing it. nice girl though. still nice. we still talk. had crush on 2 girls. i had other friends. went to hawaii for first time. beyond words. beauty. water falls, the greenest serenity. rejuvenating. deep orange sunsets. indigo and cerulean blue skies and waters. 10th grade english was a joke. our teacher wrote out our thesis and told us to write the body paragraphs. books we had to read: catcher in the rye and sound of waves (a japanese book) and a prayer for owen meany. 11th and 12th grade. life changing. met one of my best friends and became closer with another best friend. fell in love around 12th grade with both of these people. the first started dating a guy who didn't quite like me. she is still so awesome and hilarious (i knew her in 9th grade when she disagreed with something i said in class). i owe here everything. she taught me to not care about what other people thought. she told me to be me. she listened. she cared. the first met in tennis. amazing guy. opened my eyes to reality. took away my naivety and ignorance and drove them both through billions of spikes. played tennis for a junior college near my house and decided to join the team. was on junior varsity. played tennis for like 2 years and worked my way up to varsity. met more cool people at a local park program from tennis. met my 2 best teachers. one graduated from oxford university in england and is from the east coast. her brother is a famous critic on VH1. ap lit and lang english teacher. 28 years old. amazing. beyond brilliant. introduced me to chuck palahniuk, existentialism and all the books i've read that i absolutely am passionate about. other teacher was calculus. but outside her knowledge for math, she is so funny. she is down to earth. almost like 3rd mother (after my mom and grandma). honored both with 2 crystal-like awards. had 4 months off before going to college. didn't go to my prom cuz i went to prom jr. year with sr. class president. went to catalina island 2003 and 2004 as a reward for raising money for my tennis program by biking the LA marathon. went through 1st semester of college. met more awesome people here than i did in my whole life. not sure if it was a mask but usually i can tell. went back for winter break. did nothing i intended to do. now i'm here. writing my life story. pretty boring marcus. you discovered lj just to write stupid stuff and to try to write your book that will never be published. at least i met cool people though. thanks. thanks to everyone and everyone who contributed to my life. i'm like legos and i'm still incomplete. things i own that many people wouldn't think: about 30 or so model cars that are 1:18 scale or smaller. i own 150 plus matchbox/hotweel cars. mostly matchbox cuz they detailed them really well. i have legos. police and res-Q. always wanted the full racecar set but only got the 3 racers and a trailer. got a gas station after they started painting headlights on the blocks. have micromachines. used to have a car carpet that had parking spaces. i used to draw parking spaces and roads. i engineered a place for a carwash and a fire/police department. got pokemon gold and blue after getting gameboy color. go figure - it's outdated. wanted a transformer. wanted to BE a transformer. and the white ranger in power rangers. watched digimon too. and gumby was awesome. fascinated by the nightmare before xmas. i want to own more railroads and eventually own a whole building floor or hall of a replica city of most of the major cities in the world. now am currently a fan of stargate sg-1, will and grace, invader zim, and the fairlyoddparents. for a while, it was smallville. but i'm fans of the others for life. done for now. off to watch waking life.
