My First Money Scam Spam
I have been online for what seems like my entire life, but seeing as the internet was just a twinkle in CERN's eye when I was in high school, that's not really accurate.
I did start working for Silicon Graphics in '94 or '95 and there I remember Usenet and the fancy grey web pages with the line dividers that had tiny owls or such sitting on them. I was taken in by the Neiman-Marcus cookie recipe thing and forwarded it somewhere (hey, it was a long time ago!). Years later (after I was no longer working at SGI), I was contacted by a local news station who wanted to interview me about this kind of thing.
However, I have never received one of the Nigerian scam letters or any other money email scam scheme. Until today. And it's awesome.
Some poor person at the Western Carolina University is being used for this brilliant scheme (the reply to address is easily googled - poor schlub).
