I remember people asking me why I supported my fiancé so much when he came out to me, despite being utterly devastated myself.
1 - because I loved him, and that's just what you do. Why would I have done anything else?
2 - because the words and images of this song had stuck in my brain. They helped the 1991 me to understand truly what was going on, and to help him find a safe place, and kind people.
