Here's another phrase that is getting used way too often: not so much. You ask someone if they, say, liked a particular movie and the response would be(if they didnt like it): "not so much."  The Reader's review of the new James Bond movie went on to state that Bond used to be able to do and say this and that, but today..."not so much."  There's always a slight pause just before saying it, so if officially has to be said like this: ..."not so much."    Usually when these expressions get used so often it originated in a television show. I don't know about this one, but that's my guess.
And I've noticed that guys preface each sentence with um. I haven't noticed girls doing this, but guys do it all the time.
"Do you have a Borders Rewards card?"
"Um. Yeah, um, no, um, not so much, um."
Sometimes this can be done in the much more expressive, ahhhm.
And what's up with...I mean, what's the deal with people who end each sentence with so? Does that make a person sound like a WRITER?
"Do you have a Borders Rewards card?"
"No, I never signed up for one, so.."

I don't get it. Maybe I say all of these things and I don't notice. Maybe that's why it bothers me. Actually, basically, literally, it doesnt bother me, I just find it amusing.
