Piper had been extremely worried since coming home from work on Monday to find a note from Veronica telling her to cast the dis-inviting spell on the apartment. After her visit with Angelus, Veronica took a walk in the park, trying to deal with her anger and guilt.

While she was there, she finally checked her voicemail and, realizing that Piper must be going nuts, found an out of the way bench to sit down and call her friend.

Piper answered the phone after one ring. "Veronica? It's about time!"

Maybe she was a little more worried than she originally thought.

"I'm so sorry," Veronica apologized. "Things have been... a little crazy."

"I'm fine," Veronica said, lying through her teeth. "They caught him last night. He's in jail."

Piper was relieved to hear that, but she knew Veronica was hiding something.

"What happened?" she asked gently.

Veronica wasn't about to give Piper the details (a) over the phone and (b) before they got Angel's soul back in. The last thing she needed was her BFF getting orbed to the island and blowing up Angelus.

"I... talked to him... and... well, he sort of screwed with my head. A lot."

Piper frowned. "That must have been really scary."

She wished she had been there. "Why didn't you tell me you were going there? I could have helped..."

"I needed to know you were safe. Willow's in a coma and we have no idea when she might wake up. Can you do some research to see if you can do the souling spell?" Veronica asked.

"Oh god," Piper said quietly when she heard about Willow's condition. "I can try to look into that, yeah."

She couldn't help thinking about other people on the island who could have been in danger. "Do you know if my sons are okay? And Phoebe? I haven't seen her..."

"I haven't run into your boys, but I haven't heard anything about them on the radio either," Veronica said. "And Phoebe's with Bel as far as I know, so I'm sure she's safe."

She hesitated. "I... Piper, I think I did something really bad."

"I'm sure they are safe then if nothing bad has been mentioned on the radio," Piper said, relieved. She also knew Bel wouldn't let anything happen to Phoebe.

"What do you mean?" she asked, waiting for Veronica to continue if she wanted to.

Veronica sighed. "Logan's here. We... we were both upset about... everything," she couldn't mention why exactly they were both so upset. "We kind of... ended up... " she choked on the words, recalling Angelus's accusations.
