CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER

Dec 19, 2013 22:35

In past years - nine of them - we've had planned Christmas Eve dinners (last year I cooked oysters) and dinners made of leftovers (one year chili + spaghetti). We don't have a traditional dinner or even a plan for the evening - a few years we have gone to church services (at my suggestion); most years it's just us. We are open to suggestion.

I would like to make some sort of dinner that isn't elaborate but also has a nod to tradition (American, French, Italian, Solstice - we're flexible). Right now I am thinking of a Mexican shrimp cocktail (shrimp, avocado, celery, onion, tomato, cucumber) and then Grandmother's Chinese Country-Style Pork Ribs with rice and maybe broccoli. But we also love fish dinners, vegetarian dinners, and so on. We'll eat almost anything.

Suggestions? What do you have on Christmas Eve?
