Great idea. I've taken to have a package of hot Italian sausages in my freezer just for things like this.

Venison sausages. I'm so envious as I can't find venison in town for love nor money.

I'm really lucky, i've got a really good farmer's market thats close to where i live. The Venison is born & bred in the same county as well.

There are deer in the county but I don't know that the population is large enough for hunting to be allowed. Still, you'd think the butchers in the area would get in venison for their customers in season.

I buy the sofrito frozen from the supermarket. I know waitrose and Sainsburys do it. That way I cook it fresh then add pasatta. Gives a more intense flavour. Sainsburys I think just call it diced vegetables but it has the carrot, onion and celery. :)
