Marmalade

Nov 15, 2012 13:20

I came across a can of prepared Seville oranges while shopping last night. Where I live, Seville oranges are not available. I love Marmalade and prefer it to be tangy and not too sweet. I'm looking for others who have used this product. Tips, what about adding whiskey, using part sugar, part Splenda?

I have used this before, very common in the UK/Ireland, tastes fine on par with commercial brands. Irish whiskey is nice in marmalade, or a bit of lemon or lime peel.

I'm going to add lemon and may put some whiskey in a few jars.

if you want to make marmalade it won't set without sugar.

Yes, you do need the sugar to make it work, not just for sweetness. If you want fewer calories, just eat less of it afterwards.

It will still be tart, regardless of the vast amount of sugar in it!

Just a thought re Splenda. I use regular jam and don't use sugar free stuff other than soft drinks. I do love a tart marmalade.

Some people on the web state that they've had success, but I'm not going to try it.

with shipping fee the price is doubled, which I'm not willing to pay for.
So I always ask for Seville marmalade when a family member comes home from overseas :)
