So. I made an awesome roasted chicken the other night. Turned out beautiful, moist, full of flavor. Both kids managed to eat dinner without a single complaint. I figure, I can't let that be the end of this chicken, so I toss the carcass into a pot of water, re-season it and turn it on low to cook over night to get some great home made stock for soup later this week.
Next morning I give it a taste, it's like mana from heaven and I'm super pleased with myself for not wasting this opportunity. Think to myself I'll just strain it out and toss it in the fridge for when I'm ready to use it.
Get the strainer out, plop it in the sink, and then proceed to dump pot into it. And realize about 2 seconds too late, that the strainer is IN THE SINK WITHOUT A BOWL UNDER IT to catch all my lovely stock I just labored over! ~headdesk repeatedly~
So, my fellow cooks, what kitchen mistakes have you made that make you want to throw your hands up in the air and never return to the kitchen again?
