Pre-Made Croissant Dough

In my perfect little fantasy world, I could roll up some croissants made from some pre-made dough I always keep in my fridge, bake them for a few minutes, and then enjoy a leisurely breakfast-brunch morning snack platter of fresh bakes croissants and fruits.

That Pillsbury stuff (or the equivalent store brand) in the canisters doesn't made for a very flaky croissant. In fact, it makes more of a dinner roll in the shape of a croissant. It was kind of a disappointment. They're very very cheap, and I've started getting creative with them - drizzing them with honey and sliced almonds and sprinkling with cardamom powder before rolling them up, or maple syrup and pecans, or brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts, or even butter and fresh herbs, and this is a wonderfully easy and tasty way to serve these extremely inexpensive rolls, BUT. It still does not fulfill my fantasy of mid-morning fresh croissants.

Is there ACTUAL pre-made croissant dough out there? It's okay if it costs more than 50 cents, as long as it makes something reasonably tasty. I've bought pre-made pie crusts and they were nice and flaky, how do I get my hands on pre-made flaky croissants? And if there really is no such thing, is it possible for me to MAKE croissant dough (which I know is very time consuming) and then freeze or refrigerate small portions of it?

Baking is SO not my area of expertise, so any advice is welcome!
