If you have a molcajete, what do you use it for other than guacamole? We got one for our wedding because we love to make homemade guacamole but I heard you can make other things in it too! This makes me VERY excited ( Read more... )

For the molcajete, i don't have any suggestions other than guac and salsa (ive heard you can also use them for moles). Make sure you season/"cure" it before using though!! (so you don't get grit in your food)

Your dinner plans sound great!! I LOVE lamb steak. I'm still trying to figure out what to make. I'm going to be on my own tonight and got some lovely eggplant from the farmers market yesterday. I can't grill them b/c it's raining (i'd normally make baba ghanouj), but i can't decide what else to make with them.

Broil them in the oven. Or if you have a gas stove, leave them whole and cook over/in the flame.

Mmm! Now I want to try to make my own fresh spice mixtures!

That sounds AMAZING. Hubs and I love asparagus but I usually steam it, I'm going to roast it next time!

It's awesome steamed. Even better grilled when that's up and running.

errr... awesome broiled.

I'm sick, only minimally functioning brain right now.

Oh yeah and my dinner was frozen ravioli with marinara sauce (from a jar). I really wanted soup but wasn't up to chopping/prepping/cooking.

I cook five days a week and try to make a different protein each night, fish, beef, pork, chicken, and the other night varies. I'd probably get sick of fish too if I had it more than 2 nights a week. My husband and I used to go out for sushi every week and eventually I got so tired of it that I didn't eat it for over a year. Now we get sushi about once a month which is much better.

Sorry for pointless comment.

Salsas: verde, tatemada, etc,. Also is used as a hot serving plate for seafood or grilled meats.
