Ramen Noodle Ideas

We have a ton of Ramen noodles here, and since most flavors taste the same to me, I want to find some ways to spruce them up. After today's adventure, I seriously think I could make a family meal out of these incorporating all the food groups. Today, I put two scoops of peas into them since I was the only person here. Anyone have any suggestions on ( Read more... )

I love anything sesame. This is kind of similar to something I was thinking of yesterday. I've been looking for a tasty sesame pasta salad that I could throw some chicken into. I tried one recipe I found a long time ago, but it turned out so dry and bland that I ended up throwing most of it out. My mom made a delicious one a few years ago but now can't find the recipe. LOL.

While I'm cooking the noodles, I make a stir fry to mix in with it. Standard is sliced onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms, tofu, and cashews in sesame and chile oil. I'll also add some ginger and garlic to the ramen broth to boost the flavor a bit, and sometimes a few dashes of fish sauce. I usually only use about half the flavor packet. This turns out a pretty fantastic dish.

In college, I used to make TONS of casserole-type things with ramen! Quick, super easy, and cheap. Just throw in any meat or veggies you have on hand. I loved a chicken and broccoli combo best, but peas, green beans, Italian sausage, and tuna were also frequently used (not all at once).

Topping it with a bit of cheese was also fantastic, but careful or it gets too salty VERY quickly. I normally only used half a seasoning packet.

Mmm. Those dishes were a total comfort food for me. I should pick up a pack or two of Ramen at the store today :)

Sounds like something quick to make too when I'm bogged down by work! Thanks!

In college my room mate would make me a big bowl of chicken falvored noodles, she'd add in a handful of "mixed frozen vegetables" or other veggies and then throw in an egg and break it up. Sort of egg drop soup.
She'd make me eat it with chop sticks too, which is how I learned to be really good at it!

Instead of using the flavour packages, I use 1/2 of the packet plus garlic powder and powdered ginger. I want to experiment with toppings now!
