There's something we left

Next Friday, I turn 25.

The Friday after that, my mother turns 50. I spoke with her last night and told her that I'd go home and visit her that weekend. She said, "Okay, we can go out to dinner or something, the five of us, but I don't want to do anything for my birthday this year. I don't want to even acknowledge it." Fine by me.

I just spoke with my sister, whose birthday it is today. Still with me? "Oh," she tells me, "Dad didn't tell you about the party for mom's birthday?" Uhh... no. She goes on to tell me that on Sunday the 5th they are having a surprise party for my mother. Lots of family and lots of those friends that they had at one time and now never see but they'll all come back. One of those reunion type parties.

"You know she's saying she doesn't even want her birthday to be acknowledged, right?"

"Oh whatever, it's her 50th birthday" she replied.

I don't think like they do.
