Question List Day 13: Favourite Female Characters that holds a POSITION OF POWER
C.J. Cregg (The West Wing)
Even in this modern age, I don't see a lot of truly inspirational women in positions of power on TV. And I see even less who are funny, identifiable and sympathetic with it. C.J. Cregg, press secretary for President Bartlet, is an incredible character and the type of woman who I wish I could be. She is strong-willed, strong-minded, sharp, witty, sarcastic, eloquent and articulate. She has a determined sense of right and wrong and she is willing to fight for her opinions, but she also knows when to be practical, when to stay quiet, when to be calm. In seven years of The West Wing she barely puts a foot wrong (unlike the majority of men in the show who, whilst almost without exception are admirable and honourable, still spend a lot of time messing up).
If I ever have a daughter and she decides she wants to grow up to be like a woman on TV, I hope she chooses C.J. Cregg.
