my dream house will have a library. an amazing library with a ladder to reach the books. it will have room for books and pictures and small statues. along with drawers for my knitting supplies and yarn. it will be painted a warm, rich brown or maybe a deep royal purple.
this library may be in the attic or on the second or first floor. it must have lots of windows. so the sunset can be viewed every night and the sunrise every morning. and a window i can sit in to read or knit or daydream or write. with an old oak tree outside that has a tire swing hanging from a branch. beyond that will be a forest and meadow to roam in.
the furniture in this room will be an eclectic collection of oddities. there will be a huge old chest with warm, fuzzy blankets inside. the blankets will be just as mismatched as the furniture. but they will all have an antique vintage feel to them, as will the entire room.
there must be a small bed for guests, or maybe that will be the window seat. there will be rocking chairs, a comfortable one and a dark wooden one. and a couch that is so soft you sink into it's cushions as if they were clouds.
and of course a fireplace with a framed mirror adorning the mantle. in front of the fireplace will be a ragrug, braided together with bits of fabric from old clothes and rags and general scraps.
beyond that between the couch and the rocking chairs will be another chest, not as elaborate as the other, but still just as beautiful and with a dark cherry wood. it will serve as a coffee table. but double as a hiding place for more blankets. one can never have too many.
this room will be an escape. a fairy-tale place. a neverland. where dreams can come true. where fairies and elves can be seen dancing by the moonlight in the meadow out the window. where children can play and make-believe to their hearts content. in this cozy room friends can come and have their worries vanish away. snuggle down into a warm blanket for an evening and feel at peace with the world and all that are in it.
i could so write a fiction book. if i ever found the time and ideas.
but i have often thought of writing a book on the friendship of 7 girls. they are all so alike and yet, so different. :)
oh, and i love thesauruses. they are the most amazing things ever.
here are the pictures that sparked this entry:
