[he remembers the other boy then, his couch-surfing, his rejection of a helping hand. to pile on more irony, Riku -- who has never been one to either accept or extend that aid -- looks up a foreign number on his Guide.]

[predictably, it goes to voicemail -- and, for once, he leaves one.]

Hey... Yoshimori. It's Riku.

My number should be on your Guide now... gimme a call of you want.

[and, with some hesitance, he hangs up.]

WOW that's a very new sensation

[Yoshimori opens his eyes to look at his guide blinking. He's puzzled to see this person calling his guide, but then-- knowing who just left-- he's not.]

[He lies there wondering what to do, fiddling with the corner of his pillow, then picks at a stray feather that's poking through the seam.]

[Finally he furrows his brow and presses the call back button.]
