u know, we're only human and the individual can only do so much in his/her life time. even superman can't do everything that he wanted all at once. sometimes i feel that life is so insignificant when there's ignorance. that is why we try our best to do what is morally right.
it's a lot about awareness too. which is one of those things that America is still lacking in this modern time. rather sad, isn't it? to make an obvious change and difference in this world, it would take years of effort, $, and perseverance. we can start by influencing others from our actions. this is why i try to help my friends and strangers whenever i can, when capable. u don't need to save the world, u can't. but u can help make a minor difference.
Liviu Librescu did what ur dad said. he sacrificed himself to save some of his students. he didn't grab the killer's gun per se, but it's close enough. then u're gonna ask urself: are u gonna do the same thing that he did? can u sacrifice ur own life for others? i dunno if u'll ask ur dad that question though... afterall, chinese ppl weren't exactly brought up under American heroism ideals.
with all that's said, i'm still not donating a dime to any organizations. =P i still believe that ppl are donating their hard earned money to buy paper clips, staples, and commercial airtime for those org. besides, i'm in more need of $ to keep myself alive in a high expense country like Canada. my gosh, i'm ranting now. ;)
