You'll find half-and-half in the dairy case along with the milks, creams, creamers, etc. It is a mixture that is 50% cream and 50% milk.

ETA: A small carton is only 2 cups and this recipe calls for 3.

Absolutely you could. I forgot where you were. The next time I make this, I may do it in indivual tart pans. The custard/vanilla cream part of it, while delicious, did not set as I'd hoped and it's very difficult to cut a clean slice.

You know, the custard filling could stand alone or in a regular pastry pie crust with fresh whipped cream and bananas.
