Asian Market

Some girls go for handbags. Others collect shoes. Still others are makeup junkies. Me? I'm a sucker for all things culinary and food related. Seriously. Drop me off at the door of Whole Foods or Fresh Market and I'm content to stay for hours--marveling at the produce, drifting down the aisles, making calculated notes at the bakery, languishing over the meats, losing myself in the imported cheeses. You get the idea. Take me to a specialty market and you've very nearly won my heart. D effectively secured his place forever when he drove me to the largest Asian grocer I have ever seen today.

Making crab rangoon as an appetizer tonight followed by pot stickers served with the requisite gyoza and a stir fry of oriental vegetables. In the next week or two I'm also making Vietnamese (fresh) spring rolls and Filipino (fried) lumpia. We've decided to make it a habit to try new things each time we go. D introduced me to Botan Rice Candy and Mochi Icecream Bonbons. Also picked up a pack of Chocolate Pocky, because I'd never tried it. Realized the on-site bakery only took cash or we might've also come home with a red bean rice pastry. Oh, a_rockett, I saw a bin of durian and couldn't help but thinking of that story you'd posted.
