Okay, so here is what I've got so far. I'm behind but one way or another I'm determined to make it to the Post Office on Monday.
*
Day One (The original letter explaining the gift and first verse)
*
Day Two's gift is Turtle caramel candies and Dove chocolates. The poem goes:
Two turtle doves,
What a rare breed.
I went to the pet store,
They exclaimed, "Endangered, indeed."
In the interest of conservation,
I hope you won't mind.
Instead of animals, your gift is
the chocolate kind.
Please don't overindulge,
Your diet you must not break.
Too many candies consumed
and your tummy will surely ache.
* Day Three's gift is a BBQ/grilling cookbook. The poem goes:
Three French hens the butcher presented,
"Dinner for me is only one," he lamented.
"How should I cook them?" I asked with a smile.
Before he replied, he thought for a while.
"Baking is fine and broiling is great
but barbecue bird is what I'd rather have on my plate.
Slathered in sauce and grilled to perfection,
Here are some recipes to give you direction."
* Day Five's gift is
Ring Pops. I've instructed him to share them with his four year old neice. The poem goes:
On the fifth day of Christmas with things rather tight,
It's important to us that we all travel light.
Gold Rings are too heavy (and so are gold buckles)
So please be content with sweet rings on your knuckles.
Day Eleven I'll post the other verses as soon as I finish them. I'm writing them out of sequence
