First Bite: El Señor

Jul 20, 2013 15:54

El Señor proved to be underwhelming. We were running errands in Knightdale and decided to stop in for a quick lunch. The place was spic-and-span, smelling strongly of lemony antiseptic when we arrived. Atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. Waiter was soft-spoken, very mindful of our drinks and chips and did not hesitate to answer questions. He maintained a friendly demeanor even when the inconsiderate buffoon in the booth one down from us joked about being a 'gringo' and yet still managing to enjoy the food. Menu was generic. Most expensive lunch entrée was $7.95.

Darryl had a combination plate with chile poblano and tamale and I had a soft tortilla stuffed with chicken and sautéed onions, covered in queso fundido. It was served with a side of shredded lettuce, tomato and refried beans. (Note: Frijoles Charros were not an option for lunch, don't know if they are available for dinner). It was filling, my chicken was well seasoned, but the rest was largely bland. One shining star was the guacamole ($3.95). Creamy and exceptional. I would gladly swim in a vat of it.
